Jurors:
Maxine Farkas' many
accomplishments include Director, Quilt 21: American Art
Quilts for the 21st Century, Chair of the Women's Week Public Art Subcommittee,
and Massachusetts Representative for Studio Quilt Associates. Her work
has been shown nationally and internationally and has been published in
books and magazines in the US, Japan, and France.
Patrick
Pierce
is a sculptor and poet of long practice who has recently relocated his
sculpture and painting studios to Lowell, Massachusetts. He has had multiple
one-man and group shows in New York at the Denise Bibro Fine Art and other
venues. In summer he exhibits with the Turtle Gallery on Deer Isle, Maine.
His work is included in many private and organizational collections across
the country and has been reviewed in the Atlantic Monthly, the
Boston Globe, and other publications.
Brenda
Pinardi
is a professor emeritus of the Art Department at the University of Massachusetts
atLowell and a painter with major regional and national exhibitions. Public
collections include the New World Bank and the DeCordova Museum. Ms. Pinardi
is represented by the Vorpal Gallery in New York City and San Francisco.

a talk by resident artist Raquel Bauman

"Women and Domestic Photography"
A brief talk on the history of women photographers who have used domestic
themes in their photographs from the early days of the medium to contemporary
image-makers. Lynda Banzi, Stefanie Klavens, and Elsa Voelcker, "Day
by Day" artists will share how this history has informed their own
practice of photographing portraits of personal space.
Thursday, March 13, 6pm:
“Women, Comfort Food, and Stories”
Resident artist Eleni Zohdi will present a cooking demonstration and tell
stories filled with scenes from her life growing up in a small village
in Greece.
Thursday, March 20, 7:30pm:
"Daughters of the Dust"
Film showing with an introduction by resident artist Pam Goncalves.
Sunday, March 30, 3pm:
“Tea and Scones with the Artists of ‘Day by
Day’”
After
a brief presentation by artist
Catherine Judge, Ayer Lofts
will host an afternoon of tea and scones where visitors can meet and talk
with artists from this year's show. |
